My name is Dexter Umel. I built Calculator Basics in November 2025 after spending weeks trying to figure out what a mortgage would actually cost my parents in Jacksonville, Florida.

Every major calculator I found gave me the same generic national number — no local property taxes, no state-specific insurance rates, no real PITI breakdown. I couldn't find a straight answer anywhere.

So I built one. Calculator Basics now covers mortgage calculators, home affordability tools, HELOC calculators, loan calculators, and investment calculators across all 50 states and Washington D.C. — with real PITI calculations for every state and city.

No ads. No sign-ups. No paywalls. Just the number.
